Once a week, twice at the most if I have no time the previous week.

You're not a freak, if I had the time now like I used to, I'd wash twice a week too! Or actually, wash once and wax twice...

One can never spend TOO much time with their beloved classic...welcome to the obsession!

Wink

Complete wash one to three times a week, depending upon the weather. Clean the windows and Z6 quick detail almost every morning. Yes, I am a freak, just ask my wife!

It stays under cover in the garage for most of the week.........and never sees the rain.

So basically, I wash about once every three weeks.

And Zaino 3 times a week, with countless Z6ing

Buy it by the case and save a few bucks, at least you'll never run out.

I used to wash my car about twice a week(I usually only bring it out of the garage twice a week).
Now that I've discovered waxes/detailer spray/car duster's, I only wash it every 2 weeks or so.

Whats better for my car? Are there any negative effects of washing too much?

LOL, well according to the neighbors washing too much means "washing all the paint off." Seriously though, you could wash a car everyday of the year for the life of the car, as long as you're using a quality soap that's not overly harsh or strong. However, if you use a stronger soap, say similar to the high alkaline DAWN, it may weaken the paint to the point of failure over time. May also cause dullness with strong solutions. But, for the average and better car shampoos, you could wash as much as you like and be perfectly safe. The better car wash solutions have a pH that is safe for car finishes. However, even some car shampoos have too high or too low of a pH content, which means they are a bit too strong. At least, I wouldn't use them too often. The more neutral the solution the more perfectly safe it is, like water...

Here's another way to think about it. Washing the car often is much less damaging or harmful (if at all), than leaving all the bonded crud and dirt attacking the paint surface and NOT washing it off. Actually, washing often is helpful because you remove road films, dirt, bugs (if any), and general loose contamination. It's better to wash it off frequently than to let it set on the car IMO...

I agree w/ the others, you can never wash too much. Like MikeLS said, washing often doesnt let the contaminents/dirt harm the paint. I wash my Mustang once a week and use mothers detail spray just about everyday. I just spent $75 on a bunch of zaino, so I will be using the z6 spray for now, not the mothers anymore. I cant wait till my zaino arrives in the mail!! My emereld green cc already shines awesome as it is from my meguiars 3 step deep crystal stuff I use, but hopefully it'll shine more w/ the zaino! I like the fact that I can keep piling layers on.

Can stuff like bird chit eat through the zaino? I noticed that when a bird chits on my car and I wipe it off w/ mothers spray, there is a little film where the chit was. Why is this? Did the chit eat through my meguiars?
