How do you clean your carpet?

There are two ways that I have cleaned carpet. When i worked for a detail shop, 1st we vacumed up the dirt. 2nd we sprayed in degreaser, 3rd we took the hose and soaked the carpet, 4th we scrubbed the carpet, 5th we sucked up all the water with a shop vac. Sometimes we would have to repeat this on stubborn stains, and it left the carpets soaking wet. So we would run the cars with the heat on full blast to dry the carpets. The results varied using this techique, sometimes it did wonders and with really bad cars it didn't work all that well. And it never got up purple grape juice stains.

The techique I use at home is the Blue Coral Foam carpet cleaner. I follow the directions on the can, and I get good results, about the same as doing it the wet way. Except it doesn't soak your carpets and it smells great

Now how do you guys clean those rugs?

Actually the same exact way. When I got my 'maro, there was alot of stains in the back. I sprayed everything down, let it sit, vacumed, and repeated a couple more times depending on the stain. Now its looking brand new . Blue Coral

Ewww... Actually, the previous owner used the backseat as the trash, so he threw empty (or not quite) soda cans back there, which ended up being this sticky, syrupy mess, clinging for dear life to the carpet.

i vacuum the car 1st, spray a prespotter then blot with a towel to lift up the stain. i never use a degreaser . i use a fabric cleaner some degreasers can have a tendency to ruin carpet fibers. if the carpet is that bad then i use pre spotter then my extractor to remove the rest.

My carpet is rarely dirty due to my nice floor mats... Before, however, and type of carpet cleaner/shampoo will do - I just let it sit for a while, then scrubbed it w/ a damp cloth, then dried it with another cloth. Worked really well, but still more time then I wanted to invest...so I just bought a set of rubber floor mats. Every so often, throw them on the driveway, spray them w/ SimpleGreen, scrub any stubborn marks, hose off.....

I go and get a Carpet cleaner (rug-doctor) from my work, get the upholstry tool attachment, and just go over the carpet. Works perfect. Also it is very easy to do.

I recently bought a '99 Grand Prix with 75K miles on it. It was in decent shape but the upholstery & carpet needed some cleaning, I too used the Blue Coral Foam Cleaner with very good results. Afterwards I spray everything down with Scotch Guard Upholstery protectant.

On a side note if you or someone else spills soda or grape juice or whatever, as long as you get to it before it dries up, mix up some of that Oxy Clean in a cup of water and pour it over the stain then get out the wet vac. I've not had to use it in the car, but it worked great on a spill on the carpet in the house. I always keep some on hand just in case.
