How to cover up scratches in taillights?

What product /home remedy/ would you recommend I try to cover up a fairly deep scratch in a set of honeycomb T/A taillights I recently purchased for a friend? I know the scratch can't be filled in but I'd like to use something on it to make them as invisible as possible? Its hard to describe what the scratch look like... sorta like a really small grinder was taken to it and it's less than 1/8" deep and about 2"s long. The scratch has that haze around it and thats what makes it noticeable. If you wet the taillight then it virtually disappear... get what I'm talking about yet?

I'm basically looking for something to put over the taillights to make them keep that wet look so the gouge won't show up unless you're w/ in a couple of feet of it. Any suggestions would be appreciated I'll probably experiment some over the weekend but if you have a solution I'd like to hear it.
