How to clay?
I want to clay my Camaro, but the last time I did it on my old car, it didn't come out so well. Granted, the paint was glass smooth, but somehow I managed to put a bunch of scratches in the clearcoat.
I want to do it right this time...What did I do wrong? I washed the car really well, used the spray, and lightly rubbed back and forth until the surface felt smooth...?! How do I do it well?

The trick is to keep the surface really slick so the clay bar doesn't stick or snag on the paint. The best way I have found is to wash the car panel by panel and clay right over a soapy surface. A little water on the clay bar doesn't hurt either. Just IMO, for a daily driver that won't be entered into any 100-point shows, you really don't need to clay the entire car. The important spots are the rear fenders, side view mirrors, and nose and hood. Again, that's just IMO...
