Post Hit a curb

I hit a curb with my front bumper on my 01 Z. Put some scratches in it about a foot long. Can these be buffed out? I was going to park and thought that my tire would hit the curb first but it didnt. I barley hit just enough to knick the paint. But it was course concrete. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks-Jason

If you can run your finger over the area and feel the groove, you cant fix it with a buffer. From what it sounds like by your post, you will need it to be repainted. You might be able to make less visible, but I doubt any buffer/polish/compound will take that scratch out.

Dang, I did the same thing about a 2 months ago and no it could not be buffed out. I took it to the Chevy dealer and the estimate for repainting and repairing the front fascia was $478. Of course, under my $500 deductible. Oh. my dealer actually does good body work.

My only problem now is deciding what to replace the grill with before getting it fixed. I figured that I might as well do both at the same time since the fascia will be off the car.

Good luck with yours.

Man thats alot of money. I got a quote from a professional paint shop and they said $300 for the front bumper. I am either going to wait until I get a grill or another Hood and have it all painted at once. Sure as I spend the money though someone will pull out in front of me with my luck....-Jason

i've managed to do the same thing... ran the front right up on a curb and its really scratched up now.

only thing i've found that i can do is use some colored car wax/polish/whatever (turtle wax brand) and it helps to mask the huge gashs (mine turned white shortly afterwords... i have a black car). its masked so that people don't really notice until they're rather close or i mention it.
