Help Polishing Tips! Almost screwed up

well i have the magnaflow exhaust tips and i didn't wash them for awhile . Now they have stuff all over them that doesnt come off even when you scrub it.

I Figured today that i would get that **** off so i took some metal polish that i had.. MAAS metal polishing Creme... to be exact. It is the only thing i have so i figured wtf I'll use it.

So i guess the tips are stainless steal and in the top they have lettering that says magnaflow exhaust ect. and when i started to use the polish on that part some of that lettering started to come off. Not that its THAT big if a deal but i was just wundering is there anything i can use that wont remove the lettering but still clean the metal.

Also what polish do you use for your cars? (metal wise)

Mothers polish works well, along with Nevr-Dull. Mask off the lettering if you don't want it to come off. There is no metal polish that won't remove lettering....metal polish is very abrasive.

I would have sworn my Magnaflow tips have the brand name stamped fairly deeply (3 mm?) into them. Is the logo on your tips painted on or something?
