help! heavy dust/metal particles covering my car!!

i've been working on the car for the last 6 weeks in the shop... i've been EXTREMELY careful to keep towels over the fenders and not rub up against any of the paint... however, tonight i noticed that when i blow off a section of the paint, not everything blows away (like normal dust)... there are some shiny specs left behind... i have been welding and grinding in the shop (not a ton, but i have been making things for this one vehicle)... anyway, how should i attempt to wash the car this first time? i don't want to rub any metal around... i don't know what to do but i'm scared! the paint was awesome before this... hopefully i didn't trade shiny paint for horsepower... i want both!!!

thanks,
Jeff

ps. the car is fully zaino treated if that matters...

Umm ill wait for someone with more experience to post, but my suggestion would be to use a high-pressure water blaster to get all that off, of course if you use a towel, your car will be scratched up to hell.

Actually, SpecForce has a good suggestion I believe. Take it to a local DIY car wash, and only use the high pressure rinse. Go over the car a few times if needed. Next I would go home and try to hand wash it with plenty of suds, using 2 buckets as well (one for clean water/suds, the other for the dirty). Throw the mitt away after using it. And to be even safer, I might even use a claybar lightly over the paint. Depending on the amount of shavings that are left, you may need more than one bar. If you use clay, make sure to keep it folded and kneaded to a clean side.

Maybe some others have better tips, but this is all I could think of if it happended to me.

ok, thanks guys... i was wondering about the clay... wasn't sure if the clay would pick up the specs before it "slid" them along or what...
