Post Hardcore Wheel Cleaners?

My father has a 93 Cadillac Allante. It's really a fantastic looking car.
The problem is he just doesn't have time to properly maintain it. So I end up doing most of the cleaning and waxing and vacuuming. I just can't stand seeing such a beutiful car go to waste. (Plus it may be mine someday!!)
Anyway, recently I haven't had time and neither has he. The wheels have permenant damage from brake dust. I tried using a run of the mill brake dust/wheel cleaner in combo with a soft toothbrush - no dice.
Is there something on the market that will take this stuff off? It's really on there. Mabye some sort of industrial strength cleaner.....dunno. I thoght about mabye trying some pot and pans cleaner....but I don't know what it would do to the good part of the wheels.
Please help! New wheels for this car would run a few Grand -easy-.

Any help is greatly appriciated.

Hmmm, well the strongest wheel cleaner I've used is the Meguiar's Gold Class Instant Wheel Cleaner. It's pretty strong and really shouldn't be used very often on nice wheels. I use it on cars that need aggressive cleaning and this product works great. It says spray on, hose off. This may work OK for light soiling, but heavier buildup requires some scrubbing to come perfectly clean. I use a nice sized wheel brush with it and the combo works very fast, very easily, IMO. I know there is something even stronger out there, but it's not on the top of my head right now. If you use something too strong anyway, it will likely cause clouding and possibly etching...

Here's the link, scroll all the way to the bottom for the product I'm referring to... http://www.meguiars.com/product_show...cfm?SrcLine=CW It has a nice cinnamon scent, but it's a pretty strong cleaner, one of the strongest I've used. After you get the wheels cleaned with something strong, you can use a light cleaner or soap solution for every other cleaning without any damage or harmful side effects...

Oh, here is another product that may interest you. It's also pretty strong, and the write up gives a nice comparison to other cleaners' strength. http://www.properautocare.com/hi-c32.html

HTH!!

eagle one all wheel cleaner a2z is incredible. i picked it up at pepboys for probably $2 or $3 and i love it. all you do is spray on and then hose off. i used it on my 96TA which i am shameful to say had some really dirty wheels which no matter how hard i tried to clean never got clean enough. but this stuff effortlessly cleaned them.

here is a pic of one of the wheels after using this stuff.

that was after using the spray and then hosing it off.
