Thumbs up Happy Holiday Weekend, Any Detailing Plans?

Just wanted to wish all the detailers a great holiday weekend! Does anyone have any major detailing plans over the holiday?? It's a great time to catch up on some car work! I might just have to break out the bottles, uhh Zaino bottles that is, and my PC polisher. What about you guys, any plans involving car care?

Hi Mike,
I already got started Friday afternoon . I've been having a problem with streaking though. I use the Duragloss polish and every time I use it I have to wipe it with a wet towel to get the streaks out. It's feels like I'm doing twice the work. The carnuba I have doesn't streak, but I want my polish to last at least a week! Any tips?

Thanks

Great! At least someone is having a good detailing time this weekend, besides me!

Anyhow, about the Duragloss streaks...how long are you letting it sit and dry before you try to buff it out? In my experience with it, the DG is a little harder to buff out than Zaino but easier than most store bought carnaubas. So, try letting it sit a little longer before you begin buffing. Also, try to apply it pretty thin. If you load the surface up, this can easily cause hard buffing and some streaking. Also, what kinds of toweling are you using? Some load up quicker than others which causes more product to stay ont he paint surface after wiping. I can't think of any other causes right now, but try those tips and let me know how it goes...

Thanks Mike! I'm letting it dry for a good amount of time...I usually do the whole car at once and then buff. I'm also using the Royal Velvet towels for buffing. I'll try the thin coat approach and see how it goes. The DG seems to be rather pasty and not as thin as I would expect...hmm, maybe it's old. Anyway, thanks again!

Yes, my DG is not very thin either and it's a newer bottle. You are right, it comes out kinda thick, so I think that's normal. Try to make it spread as far as possible with as little as possible. Another trick is to lightly spritz the applicator with water before spreading the polish.

Happy Memorial Day Everyone!
