getting rust off chrome?

i have some chrome rims that are rusting. What is a good way to get the rust off them and protect them from rusting more?

Try a metal polish, like mothers chrome and billet polish or blue magics metal polish, if these dont work you may have to move up to brasso or rubbing compond, but be careful you can hurt the rims srubbing too hard. As for protection afterwards, a good coat of carnubba wax when you wax the car will do fine.,

If you have rust it means that the surface coating of chrome and brass has been broken allowing the bare metal to be exposed to water and air which will cause more rusting. You really can not wax or polish over rust on chrome wheels.

Your best bet is to:

1. Remove the surface rust using Naval Jelly, this product is safe for chrome but removes surface rust easily

2. Seal off the rust pitted areas using some sort of paint that would be silver or chrome in nature to hide the touch up areas. I use POR (paint over rust) products for this, www.por15.com I used some POR 20 to hide and seal a few rust spots on a set of 20 inch chrome wheels I have and it stopped the rusting for good.
