Question engine bay cleaning

what kind of stuff do you use to get rid of the oil and grime around the engine bay? I know I'll need some kind of degreaser but I'm not what will not hurt the paint or metal in the engine bay.

Simpe Green is always good to use, there are many, many kinds of engine degreasers you can buy, Gunk, STP, CDT, etc.

Simple Green does work good, as does some choke cleaner on a rag, eats right through the oil on metal parts.

Be very careful getting any liquid around the front of the engine. The opti lives there, and you don't want to kill it.

The best stuff I've found is called something to the effect of "STP Foaming Degreaser." Its in a blue can. You idle your engine til its nice and warm, then shut it off and spray this stuff on your nastiness and it will foam up and then die down and your gunk is gone. Sometimes it will leave a small water puddle and you can just towel it up. It works great! Available at AutoZone or Murray's.

that's easy...from the top of the engine, look under the TB, that's the water pump, look under the water pump, there's the opti

You should probably worry about a new screen name. But other than that, don't get any detailer on the fan belts, it'll make 'em squeek.

I use CD2 engine cleaning kit. It comes with degreaser and detailer and is the best stuff "I" have used. It really cleans then you use the detailer and makes it look really shiny and clean. Showroom finish. People have freaked out when they see my engine bay clean. It has worked well for me and my friends cars. It even did wonders for my buddy's '67 mustang.
