Post Do all chrome rims corrode easily?

I am really pissed, because I went to the car wash today, and started spraying off one of the wheels, and a big chunk of chrome fell off..

If the car is under warranty, I'd take a trip to the dealer.
Don't let them say you damaged the wheels, make sure they see that it 'flakes off" and isn't just a giant chip.

Well, they didn't come with the car. I bought them from AAARims. I emailed them, with a pic, so hopefully they'll work with me!!

I usually mention the fact that I communicate with two f-body boards, and that the way they handle this situation will be viewed by thousands. If you have to use that as a bargaining tool, include this link. Otherwise, most places usually don't hassle their customers if they appreciate your business.

Good Luck,
ED

The stock chrome rims on my bird are also corroded but mainly on the back. Obviously though the previous owner didnt wash the wheels as much as I do and I think leaving all the crap on them lead to condition they are in now. There's raised areas with rusty edges around them on the inside. I took all the wheels off when I first got it when scrubbed them with a little fine steel wool which helped alot with the build up. Anything to stop the corrosion from going further?

Is it wise to use steel wool? I used the finest I could find, but now I'm thinking that wasn't the best of ideas!!
