Question Different Viking wash mitts

OK, based on a lot of recommendations that I read on this site, I went to AutoZone to buy a Viking wash mitt. When I got there I found that they carry two kinds of Viking wash mitts: the yellow "furry" type and this whitish chenille type. (I had never heard of the word "chenille" in my life.)

Unfortunately, the labels on both of them didn't really describe the difference. The guys at the counter were clueless. So what's the difference?

Bottom line: which is the better mitt to prevent scratches/swirl marks?

Thanks!

Yeah, DON'T get the yellow "furry" one. It will likely cause swirls since it's not all cotton. Definitely get the white chenille, that's what I, and most others, use with great results.

Same goes for any brand you might look at in the future. Always go for white cotton/chenille over sheepskin or the yellow stuff.

Thumbs down

I phoned up the company whose name appears on the Viking wash mitts ("Schroeder and Tremayne" or something like that). They are based in St. Louis.

The person I spoke to said they have 3 types of mitts:
1. Yellow "furry" type that is all polyester
2. White chenille type that is polyester/cotton blend
3. White chenille type that is all cotton

She said basically if the chenille mitt you are looking at does not say "100% cotton" on the cardboard package label than it is type #2.

She also said that there are no retailers in southeast Michigan (where I'm at) who carry type #3.

I guess I'll just resort to using a 100% bath towel!
