Post Detailers - HELP!

Alright. Here it goes:
I took off my old Firebird door badges and was hoping to replace them with my new 98+ badges.

I took them off..took the adhesive off, too. However, there is a outline of the letters. I tried Goo-Off, Rubbing Alcohol, even Rubbing Compound. I took a pocket knife to test that out around an area I know would be covered and it did take some of it off - but it also makes mini scratches.

I'm CLUELESS as what to do. Gah-damn it. I was planning on taking pictures today, too!

Seems as if the paint crusted up around the original badge. The adhesive is off..it's just this paint outline. Man this is irritating me.

Lightbulb

If all else fails, you could color sand it out, but this should be your last option as it's VERY easy to screw something up using sandpaper if you don't know what you're doing. A fine grit like 2000 or 2500 grit would do the job if you want to give it a go...

Are the outlines indentions or is it smooth with the rest of the paint?
