cracked paint repair?

My poor car got backed into a few weeks ago, and the paint across the front bumper spidered and flaked off right at the "point" of the nose. There's no major damage to the bumper, just the paint. The only problem is it was a custom black paint with gold fleck in it. I have a SMALL amount of paint left over from when it was done, but I'm worried it won't be enough to re-do the entire front end. Does the whole thing need to be re-done, or can that spot be sanded down and re-painted to blend in? I've heard this is a lot harder with metalic paints

take it back to the shop who did everything the first time. They should be able to match it. Also bring back the little bit of paint you have. To spot it in would be very hard, and still wouldnt ever look the same. Re do the whole thing.

ask around your area and find a real good bodyshop, I mean some place that does show cars and customs.
Meet the painter and check out their booth. If anyone will be able to make it look right someone like that should.
Also a shop that does show cars and customs should be clean, and I mean very clean. If its not move on to your next shop.

I finally gave up on my front bumper (96 SS) and took it off and dropped it off at a local shop. Gave me a quote of $500. I had it painted last time for only $200, but it was proof of what you get for only 200 bucks! Now going to have $700 in it!

Anyway, the spider cracks are the death-knell for the paint job on the bumper. Nothing less than redo. Sucks huh?

I live near San Francisco and I can't drive it there anymore because I always end up leaving with some ding or bumper scratch on it from the nutjobs that always slam bumpers as they grind their way into and out of parking spaces designed for horses.
