coats of wax??
hey whats up everybody .. . i just put 4 coats of wax on my maro . . and i was wondering does it even help the wax last longer and shine more . . .if you put more than one coat of wax . . if my question doesnt make sence im sorry i just woke up up so im still half asleep lol
Almost any that you buy in a store like pep boys or autozone will remove the old wax with each new application (even if it doesn't specifically say "cleaner wax"). I know mequires gold class doesn't say cleaner wax but it removes the old layer when applied. Best bet for layering is a synthetic polymer like Zaino or Klasse.
It depends on whether you use cleaner wax or pure wax. A pure wax, or a wax with no cleaners will build up without removing the old wax. However, it is best to put on about two coats at a time, and repeating the wax steps maybe once a week or at least a day or two in between. You want to give the wax a chance to settle and harden a bit. Putting on 4-5 coats at a time won't necessarily make it last longer, and if you should run into rain, all of the beading quality will wash off (the wax component, however, doesn't wash off. It has to be removed with a cleaner).
What has proven very effective for me is to wax in a set season. My routine (NY climate) is to start my wax season in the spring, around April. I will use a cleaner to strip off all of the old wax from the previous year. I used to put on the carnauba right after the cleaner, and that is ok, but now I like to use a polish after the cleaner, so as to smoothen the paint surface after the cleaner. I will then put on two or up to three coats of carnauba wax. From April to late October or November, I use nothing but pure wax, building up a layered shine two coats at a time (that is until I got serious and started using the zymol estate line of waxes- it is highly concentrated with pure carnauba wax, and it is somewhat harder to put on than the typical liquid waxes).
During the winter months I will not wax, and that's twofold because it is usually too cold to wax, and I would've built up an excellent waxed surface from my wax season with anywhere between 8-20 coats of wax!!! I have had excellent results with the camaro and my previous cars, and I've never had to repaint or compound or have had to have any of my cars wetsanded or professionally waxed. My last car never sat in a garage or even had a car cover, and the new car shine has lasted to this day!
Good luck and sorry for the read.

thanks for tha advice i use the megruirers gold glass wax and this liquid acrikic wax . . .are those cleaner waxes ?? can i build up coats with those types of waxes??which waxws do ya suggest??
The meguiars gold class is good for building up the wax coats, just check to see if its pure wax or a cleaner wax. Meguiars has a decent line so you shouldn't go wrong.
If your car gets dirty a lot, then wash it as often as possible with a wash like Mother's non wax stripping car wash.
I've never heard of the other brand that you have, so if it doesn't say that it is wax then it is probably a neutral type polish or a cleaner wax.
Most pure waxes on the market (excluding the exotic stuff) will only have a minimal amount of carnauba wax in it, which is ok. The other parts of the wax product acutally promotes the glossy shine quality that we come to expect from wax. You will still be able to build up a sufficient amount of coatings with a pure wax like mothers or meguiars in order to make your paint look in great shape.
