Arrow Cleaning your wheelwells...

Kind of out of season... but I'm thinking spring cleaning for some reason today...

Anyway, what do you guys use (if anything) so get winter's crud out of your wheelwells?

I usually give a thorough high-pressure water flush, and then try to hit them with a Simple Green scrubbing and rinsing....

It's a pain to do this with the wheels still on though...

Does anyone have other ways of doing it, whether it be different products, methods, tools, etc?

Darth, cross that bridge when you get there, man!?

Seriously, on the Zed, I like to use the old 'flush down' first and follow it up with a good scrubbing with a long handled brush (the kind you'd wash your back with in the shower) then re-rinse.

I will usually spray the wells with tire foam. (Keep in mind that I know this stuff gets everywhere, but at that point I am far too tired/lazy to do a 'good' job. When I do have the energy, I will wipe them down with 303.

Me too! I usually enjoy the snow, but this winter is just pissing me off. I can't wait to go golfing again.

Smile Wheelwells

I suppose I do pretty much the same thing as you guys. Spray them down with Simple Green if they are lightly dirt or Meguiar's Gold Class Wheel Cleaner (strong acid base) for heavier filth. A strong citrus based cleaner will work good too. I let the cleaner set for about a minute then grab my wheel brush and scrub. Looks OK after doing this. But, to make them look black again, I like a water based or PDMS based dressing. I'll use something like 303 or Zaino Z16 to bring out more richness. Or, you can use a good plastic protectant, like 303, Vinylex, Meguiar's #40, etc...with a small foam or terry sponge that you don't really need, to apply. A lot of times it is more trouble than it's worth condidring how quickly it can dirty up again. So, I only use a good dressing if I'm trying to make the car super clean for whatever reason.

And, yes, I'm sick of winter too!

Mike
