Cleaning Under the Hood

For those of you who are sticklers about your F-Bodys' underhood appearance, please offer any tips, tricks, products, techniques, accessories or anything else that you feel helps to keep your engine bay clean or helps limit/reduce a cluttered appearance.

My primary interest is cleanliness; techniques for cleaning dust and grime out of hard to reach places and how to prevent buildup.

Secondly I am interested in other items such as paint schemes, rerouting of wires, accessory covers, etc.

Whatever you suggest, pics pics pics please!

I'm kinda surprised that a similar thread hasn't been started, so if Show & Shine is not the right place, redirect me brotha.

Thanks in advance!

The most important thing is to keep any liquids away from the opti. Do not squirt water or any other liquids indiscriminately around the engine. You don't won't to take a chance on killing the opti.

Re: Cleaning Under the Hood

For cleaning, Simple Green and a toothbrush and rags. Be careful where you spray it, and work in small areas. After that, I wipe everything down with damp paper towels, then dry ones. After everything is clean (it takes alot of time to do it right), then I use Gliptone Pro Buff on the painted areas. It's a mild cleaner that really does a great job at making the paint look great. If I want to go for that "detailed" look, I'll hand wipe Mequire's rubber protectant on the hoses - but not much at all. I'll polish metal parts and fittings with Mother's aluminum polish.
