Ok I want to clean my engine. Its a 1995 lt1 and Im not sure how to do it cause of the opti spark its not suposed to get wet. I wanted to know how you clean your lt1 and how to cover the opti and the best way to clean it. Thanks

 

I like to use Castrol Super clean mixed 50/50 with water. Spray it on anything under the hood and wipe it off. Very strong stuff. I wouldnt spray it with a hose. Then you could use some tire shine or belt dressing to shine the viynl and plastic. If you wanted to get real serious you could wax the shock towers but they will never shine real bright because they arent clear coated.

 

The only way I feel comfortable cleaning the engine area is with a rag and some sort of cleaning solution-takes awhile, but I'm not about to hose it off.

 

Listen carefully.......Get a bunch of shop rags and ONLY use the following liquids.....



NO WATER

 

Dont no how good it is for the engine but mines still running(Knock on wood). I just covered the electrical stuff got a presser washer, some armor all, and greased lighting. it looked pretty good.

The opti spark is on the very front of the engine. Inches behind the radiator. Maybe 6-8" down.

 

Look under the intake elbow in front of the throttle body, it's right above the crank pulley. Follow the spark plug wires if you have to.

 

ok I no what it is. Just did the LT1 swap so not real educated on the LT1.

 

I shove rags behind the water pump, then take the plug wires off and put plastic bags and rags all over the opti and go to town with some gunk, and a hose, never had a problem...
