claying?
What condition is your car in? Assuming it is in decent shape, I would wash, clay then wash again.
Use a Clay magic, Mothers or Zaino bar. Avoid Meguiars Clay like the plague.
Use a lube (carwash and water mix) while claying. It will help the clay move over the surface. Don't grind the clay into the surface, use gentle pressure and glide the clay over the surface. Also be sure to turn the clay often.
I feel like I'm all over the plae with this post but I'm tired.

Yeah, simply put.
Wash car, rub with clay as you go (wax on/wax off style). Be thorough, don't press hard. Just rub lightly until it feels rediculously smooth, then check your claybar to make sure it's clean.
Knead often to find fresh clay.
When you're done, wash the car again w/o the clay to remove any residue.

Basically, what he said, just in an easier to read format

I used it once. It fel apart constanty, half-dissolved when I threw it in my soap bucket, and left this nasty yellow film. Never again. Zaino from now on for me. The Mother's clay is good though.

You need to wash, then clay, then use your compound/swirl remover, polish, and finally wax.
