Car Wash Option

Okay, just bought a 2002 Camaro Z28 and it looks like it came off the factory floor. My question here is about getting it cleaned.

First off, I understand the bulk of you will say "go out with a bucket of soap and water then watch karate kid before heading out with wax". However that doesn't really work with living in an apartment. So my question becomes, is it wise to take a T-top camaro through a machine wash car wash or do I need to track down a hand wash car wash?

Karate Kid? I only recommend that part about 'Sweeping the leg.'

Seriously, I have never taken any of my vehicles to a machine wash, so I can't speak to if/how any damage would happen, and you may end up spending a fortune at the hand wash to ensure that you do the least 'abrasive' wash of your car. In that, you would want to wet the car down, then use a wash mitt (Do not use the foaming brush) and you should have a bucket of clean water.

Is there anyone/anywhere you know that you would have access to clean water/running hose? If so, a bucket of soapy water and a bucket of clean water to rinse the mitt off after each panel/side, etc. Then a clean rinse of the car.

As far as the polish/wax you choose to go with - that is a whole other topic...IMO.

Hope this helps!

Do some research on a product called Optimum No Rinse. It's a "rinseless" car wash product that is perfect for those with limited access to wash water.
