I have a scratch on my trunk lid. It is about 3" long, and down to the primer. Can a scratch such as this be fixed with touchup paint or should I have it professionally repainted?

If it can be fixed with touchup paint, any tips would be appreciated. Techniques for laying down the paint, which products to use to buff it, how best to buff it, etc.

If it can't be fixed, does anyone know...Would the painter just be able to sand down the area around the scratch and repaint a small area, or would they have to do the whole trunk lid?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
