buffing black paint
buffing black paint
Does anyone know of a product (wax and buffing pad) that is meant to buff with a variable speed buffer on black clear coated cars? I've had many black cars and haven't been able to buff the paint without getting crazy swirl marks every time. I do know how to buff cars been doing it for many years. I worked doing it for about 2 years a while back. I always just did all the work by hand and low speed buffer on black cars. I would like to restore the lustre to my 94 formula. Any suggestions?? thanks Andy
My dad and I use 3M Machine Polish #31003 and a Porter Cable random orbital. It's the best thing I use. Cover it up with something like Zaino, Pinnacle, or Meguiars to really seal it in.
I did it to a car with bad, BAD oxidation, and it pretty much took care of it. The car looks a thousand times better and Zaino bonds with it better than ever before.
Cmr0Z28 did it to his green car. I think the results came out great. He's a postwhore, so he'll chime in right behind me.

I use three stages of 3M depending on how bad of a paint that I start with, 3M Fine cut rubbing compound, 3M Finesse It II, and then 3M Swirl Mark remover part number 39009 in that order if the paint is in bad enough shape, on newer cars you might be able to skip the first two of those steps, but you will need a buffer like the Porter Cable in the picture to get the best results, some use a rotary buffer but I prefer my orbital Porter Cable.
