Brake dust removal products

This is my first post of hopefully many. I just recently purchased a '01 Camaro SS. I've noticed that the 10 spoke wheels which are the silver painted ones, not chrome have some stains from the previous owner allowing brake dust to sit on them. Does anyone know of a product or method of removing these annoying stains. I appreciate any help that can be given. Thank you

I would not use the spray on and hose off brake dust cleaners, they are acid based and even if they say clear coat safe (your wheels are clear coated) they can damage and dull the clear coat over time.

Since yours are already stained, I would use some rubbing or polishing compound by hand to buff them out.

Glad you said that! I bought some Meguiars All Wheel Cleaner yesterday and was going to try it if I got no replies. Your idea sounds a bit safer than the acid based stuff. Thank you I'll give it a try.

I have used McGwire's Hot Rims to get really really bad stains off...

I, by no means, would use this type of products regularly... but in certain situations, it can be of value.

The best way to keep the stains away, is to keep a nice layer of polish on your rims... the brake dust has a much harder time sticking.

Ever since I started Zaino'ing my wheels... life has been much easier in the brake dust department!

No need to worry. I've used the Meguiars, but I primarily use the Eagle one product for wheels (orange bottle). I wash my car twice a week and use this stuff all the time. Both products work great. I've used them for YEARS, and my weels simply look great; no problems.

It won't hurt'em; don't worry.

Here's a link to mine.

Go to the car\bike folder, and the wheels are at the bottom.

I know it's hard to tell from a picture, but at least you can see the wheels.

I use Eagle One also, it knocks that dirt right off the rims.
