Brake dust off of factory painted salad shooters.
Brake dust off of factory painted salad shooters.
So whats the best way to remove brake dust from the factory painted salad shooters, there white. I was using Westleys, that worked the best, but I know it's not good for the rims especially the plastic center pieces. I tried polishing them, then appling Zaino, but that seem to be worse. I think the brake dust actually stained the zaino, since I couldn't get the brake dust off with anything except Westley's. The bleach in Westleys does a good job on the white. I really don't care for these rims but want to keep the body as close to original as possible, plus the factory painted rims are somewhat rare.
I'd wash them down with car wash soap, then try the claybar on them. Get them clean, then put some Zanio polish on there to protect them. I agree that the Wesley's is a bit strong and would do damage over time, so I would avoid going that route. Good luck!
The wheels from the factory are clear coated, so the bleach white is not a good choice. It may have damaged the clear coat leading to rapid staining.
I would use a rubbing compound on the wheels to try to lift the staining.
