Blacks a "B"
Use Mequiar's polishes and waxes with an electric Porter Cable dual-action polisher. Check the Mequiar's website - they sell all the stuff and suggest how to care for your paint. My 99 Z28 is black and I keep her garaged - still gets filthy really quick!! Oh well.
BTW, do you ever go to the Pomona Fairplex car meet? I used to go all the time when I lived in San Bernardino.

Black paints require a LOT of loving care and attention to keep it always looking perfect. Black is without a doubt the most unforgiving color and will show all flaws and surface imperfections. This is why it's essential to use the best quality detailing tools (like towels, mitts, etc) and the proper techniques to prevent swirls and keep it looking great.
If the swirls are really bad, you will need a good swirl remover like 3M Swirl Mark Remover #39009 for starters. If the swirks are really bad, you will definitely need a little more aggressive abrasive.
Here's a site that shows many of the common swirl removing products.... http://www.goodspeedmotoring.com/sub...egory=Polishes Check out 3M and Meguair's prep products, many of which can be found locally. If the 3M SMR doesn't work, move to a more aggressive product until you notice an improvement in the finish. After you are satisfied with the results, keep the finish protected with a good quality wax or polish.
Blacks aren't impossible to keep flawless, but they do require a bit of extra care that most other colors don't.
