I just stated using Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax on my black Ford Edge. It is real easy to use. So far is seems good. I used the ultimate polish first (that is a lot of work). I'll try to remember to post back in a few months and let you know how it is holding up. They also make a wax specifically for black cars, I've never tried that though.

My next trial is going to be the Optimum Products:
Hyper Compound Spray - For deep/extensive Swirls
Hyper Polish Spray - Final Coat
They also make a Glaze/Polish/Sealant (GPS) for a one step product

I've had my black Firebird for 11years. I've tried various products and without a doubt Griot's is the best. Visit their website and read about their various products and choose the one best suited to your needs.
