Black car...

I got a black car and can not get it to stay shiney. Any ideas? I used mothers car wax. Let me know if anyone knows of any good waxes.

I have had lots of black vehicles and still do, Zaino being synthetis is the only wax or polish product I have ever used that will stand up to the heat that black paint puts out, regular carnauba wax like Mothers is toast on a hot black surface, that is the reason you are seeing your gloss go down rapidly.

For what you will need to get you started (ZFX, Z5, Z6, Z7, and Z18 clay bar) will cost about $72 but that doesn't include shipping if you order on line. You may have a local distributor near you though. Myself and a few others on here are local distributors! Great stuff and you won't be disappointed! BTW, my firehawk is black

I would hope it works for $72?!?!?! Seems a little steep to me for some waxes...

That is not all for waxes, the acutal wax/polish is Z-5 (best for black cars) is 16.95 and you will need at basic to activate it either the Z-1 for 8.95 which is the two step method or the ZFX 19.95 single step activator for 19.95

The rest of the it is:

Z-6 Gloss Enhancer detail spray 9.95
Z-7 Show Car Wash 7.95
z-18 Clay Bar 16.95

Z-5, Z-1 or ZFX is not optional

Z-6, 7, and 18 are optional.

If you have never used a clay bar on your car you will not believe how smooth a clay makes an older car.

Please check out www.gurureports.org

They have a very extensive wax/polish test that is totally independent and not backed by any maker or manufacturer.

This may help you in your decision. Remember, Zaino is a synthetic not a wax so you really can't compare it to your over the counter waxes. Check out the report. You'll be glad you did.

Another vote for Zaino.

My blood red paint would tourch wax in about a week, where as getting 4-6 months of shine out of a coat of Zaino is standard procedure.

Longest I've gone is 4 months, and when I put on additional coats, it looked pretty much the same, because it had barely faded at all.

Here's how Zaino looks on a black 2000 Z28 Vert (a customer/friend of mine):
