Armor All -- Am I screwed?
Armor All -- (resolved--and with piccies)
Hey guys.
So I recently bought a mint (no, really) 93 z28, and gave it the detail this weekend. Not hearing or really researching it, I bought a bottle of Armor All (because thats what dad used) and used it just about everywhere:
Windshield Wipers (plastic guards)
Tire rims
Dash
Weatherstripping
Various plastics
As far as looks go, I had fantastic results IMO--especially the windshieldwipers of all things, and since I live in WA--the car has been rained on since the application and it held up pretty well.
Now, just tonight I was reading that Armor All has been known to crack dashes, wear plastics, disentigrate weatherstripping, and turn tires brown.
This of course really concerned me, and there seem to be enough comments online to make me want to get rid of this stuff and use something else.
My question to you is--HOW??? How do I remove this stuff, or am I screwed? Keep in mind I used it just about everywhere, is there a specific product that I can use on each place I listed?
Im quite worried, please come to my rescue!
Thanks =)

Re: Armor All -- Am I screwed?
Armor all still sucks, but at least it some some good. With the old formula it actually did more harm than good and over the long run you'd be better off using nothing at all than armor all.
But with that said even if you had used the old bad formula, one application wouldn't have been the end of the world. Follow up with a good plastics cleaner and a good conditioner such as 303 Aerospace protectant (what armor all should be... but then again 303 costs like 4 times as much so it's not worth it to some).

Re: Armor All -- Am I screwed?
Buy a specific tire cleaner spray or dressing, I only apply that maybe once a month, I find tire dressing usually fouls up my wheels after the first good rain!
I use it on my dash and plastic sparingly, dont douse the car like a used car dealer, lol, but put some on a rag and it makes it clean up nicely!
Post some pictures, I want to see!

Re: Armor All -- Am I screwed?
armorall has a tendency to dryrot. on a plastic dash, you are fine. what really struggles is the 60's and 70's cars with the big poofy vinyl covered dash's. just switch to formula 2001. they call it like F21 or something now. it's in a green bottle. it works really well and has a better smell than armorall.
