ADHEISIVE REMOVAL
Does anyone know the name of the stuff.......i think 3m makes it...that is supposes to be applied when you remove the z28 decals to clean the sticky residue left behind? i am putting different emblems on..and want to clean the area that was under the old ones before putting on the new ones. I need to make sure whatever it ius..that it won't hurt the paint.
Funny you mention it, I just took my emblems off earlier tonight, only I am just painting mine and not replacing them. SO I had to buy the adhesive tape.
Here are the directions,
1. Carefully remove nameplate.
2. Remove tape residue on nameplate. 3M Citrus base Industrial Cleaner 08889 is recommended for use on most plastics.
3. Remove tape residue from VEHICLE with 3M Scotch-Brite moulding adhesive & stripe removal discs 07501.
4. Clean the vehicle with 3M General Purpose Cleaner 08984 or 08986.
There is more for the application of the new tape and cleaning of old emblem etc. but if you are gettng new emblems they will already have tape on them, yes?
Hope this helps.
P.S. I used paint thinner and a rag to remove the old tape, only problem is it takes Zaino off so I will have to re-Zaino those areas.

You can also safely use WD-40 or plain rubbing alcohol. I'd try the alcohol first, then go to WD-40 if it's not how you want it...
Afterwards, just wash and rewax the area to remove any residue.

I use "Goo Gone" to get adhesive off also. Can pick it up at Wal-Mart.
