93-97 headlight trim fading

looking at various pics of other lt1 camaros, most guy's headlight trim is dark with no blemishes at all. Mine is all faded and more grey than black. I used to use a product called Stoner's Trim Shine, and that would make it good for a few days, but not permanent. Now, living in VA, I can't find it. Any suggestions to restore it's brilliance?

Re: 93-97 headlight trim fading

I tried something that worked on my 93 camaro today--just simple Armorall did the trick, and the black is back to its origional brilliance.

I also used it on the wiperblades and that worked really well. I dunno how it will hold in the rain, but then again I don't drive when it is wet out...

Anywho, Armorall worked for me =)

goodluck

I do not know if Back to Black would work or not. The next time I had the time I would stop by the store and read the label to see if it might work for you.

It does work. Thta's what I use. I have to buff it a couple of times to get of any residual residue left, but it leaves a shine that repels water nicely?

Does "Back to Black" also work for the black strip between the T-tops?

I use it for everything that is black. The headlight trim, the strip between the t-tops,the molding that runs below the window, etc. My strip between the t-top had alot of rain spots, but after awhile I finally got it clean?

Re: 93-97 headlight trim fading

just tried to paint my uro parts headlight trim and i think it looks good! Looks similiar to the Audi TT lamps. I added 'citylights' to the high beam area, looks great...

Just wax it with some Meguiars gold class wax and see what happens. That's all I use on the '95 and it looks pretty decent. Back in 2002 I had a professional polish the car and use an acrylic sealant on all the paint, and that oddly enough turned what used to be matte black into semi-gloss black.

They polish up nicely with normal rubbing compound and glaze. Go easy, though, as the finish is not clearcoated and there isn't alot of color to work with. I had the whole thing cleared when the nose was repainted, and while not 100% stock-looking, it was hassle free and looked great.
