Need a good tranny to hold up with my buddies mildly modified formula. he only has gears, cc 305 and lt's and run 12's before old tranny took a dump. Need something to hold up to the task. Late me know what you guys have. Also looking for a new converter, 2200-2800 stall.

I have an Art Carr built 4L60E from a 95 Formula, with a 9in non locking Art Carr 2800 stall, 10(or 12) vane LS1 pump, raybestos kevlar HD clutches(extras in the 3-4), wide 2nd gear band, new HD double row sprag, modded valvebody, and vacum modulator. Has maybe 9k on the tranny. Pulled out to go with a TH400 due to adding 175 hit nitrous kit. Trans was never sprayed, never taken to the track. Had it built while in college and didnt drive it much. If your still shopping for a trans, the same thing happened to me. My trans had a rear main bolt come loose and it flopped around and the converter finally wedged it between it and the bellhousing, denting up the converter and cracking the bellhousing wide open. I bought a new transmission from GM Performance parts b/c they are supposed to be tougher than a stock replacement one. I had a transgo shift kit installed and it works great. However I developed cooling problems about the same time and didnt drive it much, I finally found it was a warped head! So I am going to take the motor out now and put a 383 in with a th-400. The motor had a cam in it and it was taken to the track twice with this new transmission. It never got 1k miles on it. I still have the plastic shipping crate it came in, its basically brand new. Its from a 97 LT-1. If your interested let me know. I could use the extra cash to get parts for this 383 swap.
