How can you tell the difference between a 1LE shaft and a stock Alum. one? I have an alum one that I am looking to get rid of, it has a 3" diameter.

I think mine is 3.5", I just measured it with a tape measure, but I got a set of calipers I can measure it with. It does look a little bit bigger than other ones I have seen, and is lighter to.

The 1LE is 2.75" Diameter. The LS1 version is 3" Diameter. The 1LE is said to have heavier duty yokes than the LS1. But both are plenty strong till you get into big power. If you have a 3.5" its aftermarket, possibly LPE, Denny, who knows?
