Why do you need a screen?? I dont think your going to get just the screen as it takes a scew driver and ruining the screen to get them off.

Thats my point. Why do you need a screen?? I dont have one either an I would suppose most of the other members on this board dont either. It restrictive to air flow. and I,m sure nothin big enough to take out you maf wire is going to make it past your air cleaner.

Don't listen to Venomous. It's true, you don't NEED a screen in order for your MAF to work. But it does need the screen in order for the PCM to accurately know the amount of air that the engine is taking in. Of course, the MAF calibration could be adjusted in the PCM but I'm sure you already know that, which is more than likely the reason not to use the aftermarket MAF that you already have or a descreened one. Unless you have tuning software and a flow bench readily available, there is little to no gain to be had by descreening your MAF. In some cases, I've seen/heard of cars LOSING HP/Torque by uncalibrated MAF sensors.

Honestly, until someone can post ACTUAL flow numbers between a stock and unscreened MAF, there's no reason to unscreen a perfectly working one. If anything, the screen would help straighten out the airflow as it enters the intake, which is always a good thing.

I can MAYBE see where a heads and cammed or even stroked LT1 might see a slight difference in what it puts down but honestly, is 2-3 hp really worth the hassle to PROPERLY modify your MAF? I doubt it. At that point in a build, it would just make sense to buy an aftermarket unit or do a custom set-up using a Z06 or similiar mass airflow sensor.

bstieboydp, i will look tonight for a screened MAF sensor and let you know tomorrow. I probably have one or two somewhere.

OMG I asked him why HE needed a screen as I have never had one on any of the cars Ive owned and never had any sort of problem. I didnt say he was an Idiot or call him stupid. I simply ask why he needed the screen in the first place, all you needed to reply was

It's true, you don't NEED a screen in order for your MAF to work. .................................................. .......................................
