10 bolt cover for F body rear

I just bought a rear out of a 2000 SS and the original owner kept the nice alluminum cover. I just need a stock cover so I dont have to sell my original rear minus a cover. I just wanted to see if any body had a rear cover before I make a trip to the junk yard. I would be interested in an aftermarket cover just not loooking to spend 100 bucks.

The high performance after market one made from aluminium will cost you over $100 (used). The new ones are $150, but they are worth the price, if your car is not stock (~320RWHP), cuz it will hold more power then stock cover. You can purchase the chrome version of the stock unit, for about $15 out of eBay...

Re: 10 bolt cover for F body rear

The rear I bought has ARP studs and is already stronger than stock and my vehicle is currently not modified much. All I am looking for is someone who has a used stock one laying around. The ones on ebay are 10 bucks + 12 shipping, I am not paying that much for one. Buying an aftermarket cover is a waste of 150 dollars. I have seen people blow rears with these covers with less power than people who run stock covers. I want to spend a few bucks and when this stock rear blows by then hopefully I will be able to afford a 12 bolt. I just want a used stock cover. Any help would be appreciated but please no lessons on cars please, I am well educated and have been around cars my whole life including working as a mechanic for over 6 years on vehicles as well as motorcycles and boats. Point is I am looking for a part not a lesson from someone I probably am on the same level with or above.

So if you are so cheap that you don’t want to spend $10 on the cover, good luck with finding one here. And as for ARP studs, they won’t help you any if you don't have the TA griddle...

Re: 10 bolt cover for F body rear

First off I dont care that the rear will have less than the best as far as support goes, my car is relatively stock and will be staying so for some time. Secondly, if you know how to add one of those ****y looking chrome covers cost about $22 dollars after shipping, some cost more. I have a TA and you have to be on your belly to see the rear so I dont want to spend $22 for something no one will ever see. I dont want to spend the 100 for a used support cover because that money would be better spent on other things such as my slowly crapping out tranny and the wicked exhaust leak the car has from someone rigging the exhaust before I owned the car. My point is that I have a vast knowledge of automobiles and many friends who have run these rears with higher horsepower applications than myself and have seen them last. I believe my rear will last a few years without going out, this is a daily driver not a drag car. All I was trying to say was my post was asking for a cheap used cover to put on this rear I bought that is without. If I had posted something like " What kind of rear cover should I get, Im a nube and want my car to make 1000 hp" Then I would understand you trying to give me a lesson here. I have owned many exotic cars including 69 Nova SS, 62 Chevy II 400 series, 87 Monte carlo SS, 73 SS Nova, 69 El Camino, 81 DeLorean and several others I probably left out. I also have worked on autos in several shops over the years and am an actual mechanic. So please I was just looking for a used cover so I dont have to go talk to the cons at the recking yards who will make me pull it and charge me alot for it.
