Supercharger Opportunity. V2SQ
Supercharger Opportunity. V2SQ
Dear Cz28 members,
My name is Brad and I have been on the boards for a while. I would like to thank all of you for your help over the years as I have been building up my 93 v6 auto camaro to a now 93' v8 manual camaro.
A few months ago I purchased a Vortech V-1 supercharger kit on these very forums for 1600 dollars. I bought the kit and it sat it its box for several months until I had chance to install it. The unit installed wonderfully and we were very excited to use the new system. Upon firing the newly rebuilt ( last year) engine up we noticed there was some oil in the bay - upon research here we realized this was blowby - a common issue with Super chargers. We continued to use the car for about 10 miles more smoke coming out the back paired with a new screech from the engine bay.
....CONCLUSION = the Supercharger Bearings must have been bad and the fan of the SC was grinding into the housing... sending metal into the engine. Even though the engine only ran for about 10 miles it was destroyed due to these metal fragments eating the rings and pistons.
- In the process of getting the engine repaired we sent the head unit back to vortech to find that we may get this one fixed for 900 dollars or a NEW V2SQ for 1800 dollars.
The way we see it - we do not want a supercharger anymore due to the fact we are not comfortable with it ( blew up our motor once)
SO
If anyone would like to buy the NEW V2SQ with all Brackets (working right now on a 93 Small Block LT1) We would be willing to sell this setup shipped to 48 contiguous states for 2800. THIS IS A BRAND NEW UNIT SETUP FOR 6-8 Psi.
**** If interested in brackets only please respond ****
First Come First Served.
