is there a reason you didnt leave the gears in? or do u just prefer motive or what? i may be interested in them, ive been lookin for some 3.73s
Re: Skulte Adptrs, 3:73 richmond, spohn PHB, moog ball joints, cutout, used pads, swaybar
I actually had no idea they were in there.. The salvage yard sold me the rear as a stock 3.23 rear end.. I brought the car to a shop for my motive 3:73 install and they just swapped em out and never said a word.. I got home from picking up the car and I opened up the box to check out the "Stock" gears and here are a nice set of richmonds.. I knew it seemed like I was shifting earlier on the way to the shop, but I thought it was just me since I hadn't driven the car in almost a year
Re: Skulte Adptrs, 3:73 richmond, spohn PHB, moog ball joints, cutout, used pads, swaybar
haha.. crazy.. bet ya wish ya knew that before hand huh? so 145 huh? what else would i have to buy for these to work?
Re: Skulte Adptrs, 3:73 richmond, spohn PHB, moog ball joints, cutout, used pads, swaybar
Got that right.. Gear installs aren't the cheapest things in the world.. As long as you have a 3 series carrier all you would need is a gear install kit (thunder racing sells Raytech kits which is what i bought), some gear oil, and GM limited slip fluid.. thats all..
Re: Skulte Adptrs, 3:73 richmond, spohn PHB, moog ball joints, cutout, used pads, swaybar
Do you know what rear end gear ratio you have? I imagine you have a 3.42 rear end already since you have an M6 but I'm not completely sure.. As long as you have a 3.xx gear ration already then it's a 3 series carrier. I dont see any reason why you shouldnt already have 3.23 or 3.42 gears though. If you do these fit right in.
Re: Skulte Adptrs, 3:73 richmond, spohn PHB, moog ball joints, cutout, used pads, swaybar
i have no idea man... i found out recently the rear end in my car isnt the stock one.... it looks like it came out of a junk yard cause it has 94 written on it. so how can i find out? when we noticed this, the guy did something with the wheels and was like.. i think you have 3.23s in here. but how can i find out for sure?
Re: Skulte Adptrs, 3:73 richmond, spohn PHB, moog ball joints, cutout, used pads, swaybar
You can open the rear end cover, and count the number of teeth on the ring and divide that by the number of teeth on the pinion and that will give you your gear ratio.. i.e. the 3:73's I'm selling have 41 teeth on the ring, and the pinion has 11 so 41/11=3.727272727.. in other words 3:73 gears..
Re: Skulte Adptrs, 3:73 richmond, spohn PHB, moog ball joints, cutout, used pads, swaybar
hmm i see. and thats the only way huh? is richmond a good brand? i guess they arent too noisy since u didnt notice them? then again u said u hadnt driven the car in awhile lol....
Re: Skulte Adptrs, 3:73 richmond, spohn PHB, moog ball joints, cutout, used pads, swaybar
well thats the only way I know of at least.. The richmonds are defintely a good brand and do whine a bit and I did notice it a little on the way to the shop.. It's just the way they cut the gears which is supposed to make them a little stronger.. That's what I've read..
Re: Skulte Adptrs, 3:73 richmond, spohn PHB, moog ball joints, cutout, used pads, swaybar
ok well i'll have to see when i can get to my rear end to see whats in there... so i'll know what to do, if i have a 3series i'll take them, but i gotta find out first...
Re: Skulte Adptrs, 3:73 richmond, spohn PHB, moog ball joints, cutout, used pads, swaybar
TTT.. Btw skisax80, even if you have 2.73 gears, I think you would additonally need a gear spacer (about $50?) and that will allow you to use 3 series carrier gears with you're 2 series rear end.. That is of course if you don't already have a 3 series carrier.. I'd say anyone that swapped a 2 series rear end into a 6 speed car is an idoit though
I'd check with the guys on the boards first though.
