Rebuilt 305 w/ Comp cam

1985 Chevrolet 305ci V8
This motor was removed from a 1985 Monte Carlo SS that had approx 75,000 miles before a bearing spun on rod #8. Previous to the spun bearing it ran perfectly. The engine was removed from the car in July of 2003 and was completely rebuilt by me, Cale Beasley, as of October 2003. The single performance modification is the Comp cam & accompanying Comp hydraulic lifters. This is a long block w/o manifold (stock manifold and carb included for free if desired).

The following parts were purchased new:

· Comp Cam(mild)& Lifters: Dur @ .050 211/221, Lift .442/.465, Lobe Sep @ 110
· Cam bearings
· Precision reground crankshaft from Crankshaft Rebuilders in Sanford, FL.
· Clevite 77 .020 main bearings and .010 rod bearings
· 1 Connecting rod in place of rod that spun bearing(O’Reilly)
· Stock type Piston rings
· Melling oil pump
· Stock type timing chain
· Gasket kit & rear main seal
· Chrome oil pan, timing cover, & valve covers

The following machine work was performed by Dick’s Machine:

· All 8 cylinders honed (cylinder walls were perfect, no need to bore)
· Install of new cam bearings
· Re-size 7 rods, w/ one piston pressed onto one NEW rod
· Valve job & surface of both heads
· Welded oil pickup to oil pump body
