Paging: GeneCamaro27

Gene, these wheels are not as represented......As a matter of fact they are not even close to what you descrbed. They are chrome and not worth crap.

The scratch is on the lip, hardly noticable, other wise they look awesome. Pics below.

Gene, these wheels are not as described. We need to discuss this. It's obvious they are used. They are severely pitted, re-polished, actually a mess. Here are a few pics. Check out how pitted the inner surfaces are.....

I won't even start on the outer surfaces being not scratched... but pitted as well.

Re: Paging: GeneCamaro27

Have you tried PMing him or emailing him to let him know this thread exists first? Or tried to settle this via PM or email before posting it up on the forum?
Paging somebody by starting a thread isn't very effective if you are looking for a response...

I agree that those wheels do not look anything like the wheels in the above pictures.

a PM was sent. This is blatently a misrepresentation. These don't even remotely resemble what was advertised. It appears evident of the intention............

And after a phone conversation, Gene admits that he bought them from someone else, that HE never mounted them and basically he's blowing me off, cussing me out so it's time to take it to the authorities. To everyone else, don't do business with this scumbag.

Well thank you for the heads up. I hate people like that. Glad you pursued all the proper avenues with this. Goodluck with the authorities I hope you get your money back. That is not even close representation of the product that I am sure you paid good money for. What an A$$hole.

After chrome starts to pit and bubble, it slowly flakes off. Eventually chrome looks like crap and must be redone. Bare aluminum will last for a long time without the associated flaking.

On another note, the seller has admitted that these were supposedly sold to the previous buyer as blems, something that he neglected to put in his for sale ad. He admitted the mistake and we're working on a solution.

Re: Paging: GeneCamaro27

I have to admit an error on my part as well. After further examination and testing, these wheels are not chrome. I thought they were as there was evidence of copper plating on one of the rims and the extensive buffing. With all the pitting and such it really looked like chrome. If these were mint, AFS does an oincredible job of the mirror polishing!

However, they were still misrepresented and the pitted surfaces look like hell from all but perhaps one angle..... the angle that the original photos were taken. it is obvious that these wheels had been used. Perhaps they were returned to AFS for work and then resold, but there is even curb rash and that doesn't come from being "unmounted". At least Gene realizes that he should have offered the correct info, meanwhile we work on a solution.

This folks, is why you give an accurate representation of what you are selling. Had Gene represented these properly, everything would have been in agreement and understanding from the beginning and we wouldn't be at this stage. I'll follow up with the results. Thanks to all for your comments.

Re: Paging: GeneCamaro27

That's what happens when owners do not keep them clean and protected. My guess is that these were once chrome plated and sent back during the warrenty period due to the chrome bubbling and flaking. The wheels were stripped and polished. The only thing is that once the chrome starts to bubble, it is because the underlying surface is corroding. The corrosion eats it's way slowly into the surface, much like tooth decay. So once the wheels were polished, all the remaining high spots get mirror polished, but all the little craters left over are deep enough to look like what you see in the picture.

Hey, how much you want for them? I'll buy them from you for a discounted price, and he can give you the rest of your money back...if this sounds alright to both parties then let me know.

Re: Paging: GeneCamaro27

Still waiting Gene for you to refund that agreed amount, I realize that COD can take a bit for you to receive so I'm being patient.

btw, Donohue96M6Z28...... the other pair of polished ZR1s I bought from you arrived and look fantastic. Thanks! they acutally were packaged nicely and the wheels were well protected, everything was as good if not better than described.
