Re: LT1 Mods for Sale

Chicago is approx 6 hours from Ames, IA 50014.

Complete swap of 10 bolt rear ends... (Yours must be 3.42 gearsm NO traction control, and good posi - i.e. jack rear up, and see if there's any slippage in the axle when you spin one of the rear wheels against the other)

My 1997 TA has just under 60k miles on it. The Strange 4.11 gears have approx 1000 miles on them. Have changed the gear oil three times in those 1000 miles.

I have a brother that lives in Elgin. Chicago may be too far away to make this work, but maybe I could visit my bro, remove the complete 10 bolt from his garage and swap from there?

Re: LT1 Mods for Sale

Hrm,

lemme think about it. Just removed and sold my Hooker LT's and ypipe. Am in the process of placing the crappy OEM manifolds, dual cats and stock y-pipe back on the car.

Just picked up a '99 C5 and it's really difficult to stay focused on getting the '97 f-body moving. Will try to focus though.

My bro lives close to the train station, a block or so, there in Elgin. Think that's really close to I-90?

It's hard to rationalize driving the TA to elgin for just the gear swap. You mention the shocks and springs and my ears perked up a lil.

Put it this way: Once my TA runs (am taking off from work this week and intend to have car running before thanksgiving), you pay pal me $450 ($350 for the shocks and springs + $100 for the 4.11 gear/10 bolt swap) and I will ship (i.e. drive out) to Elgin (weather permitting of course on 11/27 or 11/28 depending on how soon you wanna do this) and we'll transplant 10 bolts in a 1/2 hour. (Obviously it's really easy to install the rear Bilstein springs/shocks as part of the 10 bolt swap. )

You will have to tweak your pcm for the gear change to get your speedo and mileage proper. I converted my car to OBD1 a while ago. You running OBD2?

Re: LT1 Mods for Sale

I already have Eibach Pro springs that I like, but could I get you to just do the shocks seperately...they should fit right???

Anyways, shoot me a price to Houston (77379).
