Keep my car from getting traded in

I'm seriously thinking about buying a new GTO. In order to do that, I'd have to get rid of my Trans Am. Now I can't see trading this car in. I think it's best to sell it to someone complete. I'd rather not part it out at this point. So, make me an offer. Blue book for the car is $7800 and I'd like to start there.

There are a couple of threads that I started after I had low dyno numbers. The #5 cylinder was not firing at all. I solved the problem by changing the plugs and wires. The car runs excellent now. I drove it over 150 miles on Sunday in the mountains with no problems.

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Color: red with graphite leather.

76,000 miles. 6,000 miles on the heads and cam setup. Fully loaded with T-tops, leather, power windows, power door locks, 10 speaker factory stereo

Performance mods:
Engine:
Stock 350 ci bottom end. Lloyd Elliott ported LT1 heads, Comp XE 230/236-112 cam, new lifters, Trickflow pushrods, Comp ProMagnum 1.6 rockers, Comp 987 dual valve springs, larger valves, etc.

Intake:
Ported LT1 intake, 58 mm BBK throttle body, Trickflow intake elbow, SLP cold air kit

Cooling:
CSI electric water pump with custom wiring and pump failure warning light, manual fan switch

Fuel system:
FMS 30 lb. injectors

Exhaust:
SLP single-cat headers, Dynomax bullet muffler as an ORP, Hooker cat-back exhaust

Drivetrain:
GM 1LE aluminum driveshaft, 4.10 Motive gears, TA performance rear end cover, studs, etc. 17x9 WS6 Wheels, brand new 285/40-17 BFG KDW tires.

Computer:
Custom dyno tune

I have all receipts and flow sheets for the heads. The blue book on this car is about $8,000. The mods alone total at least $9,000.

This car is not smog legal in California. If you want to register it in California, you will be responsible for obtaining a smog certificate. How you do that is up to you. I could never advocate bribery :-).

Re: Keep my car from getting traded in

I could probably get $6,000 for it trading it in. Someone needs to buy this car. All the mods are already made. I'd keep it, but I don't really need three cars. Nor do I have any place to park it if I did.

Re: Keep my car from getting traded in

I said to make me an offer. What's it worth to you? If it turns out that I can't get much for the car, then I will keep it. It's not a money problem, more a space problem. I don't have any place to park it if I keep it.

This is what I get at kbb.com for the car:

Engine: V8 5.7 Liter
Trans: 6 Speed Manual
Drive: Rear Wheel Drive
Mileage: 78,000

Equipment
Air Conditioning
Power Steering
Power Windows
Power Door Locks
Tilt Wheel
Cruise Control
AM/FM Stereo
Cassette
Multi Compact Disc
Dual Front Air Bags
ABS (4-Wheel)
Leather
T-Bar Roof
Premium Wheels

Consumer Rated Condition: Excellent
"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks great, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. It should pass a smog inspection. The engine compartment should be clean, with no fluid leaks. The paint is glossy and the body and interior are free of any wear or visible defects. There is no rust. The tires are the proper size and match and are new or nearly new. A clean title history is assumed. This is an exceptional vehicle.

Re: Keep my car from getting traded in

The only way you can consider a 9 year old car excellent condition is if it has 2000 miles on it. Or at least thats what the dealers will tell you. Excellent, when you do kbb, you have to type in good if you want an accurate figure, youd be lucky to get 4 grand for it from a dealer, i would think you could get between 6-7500 from a private buyer. But also remember that not as many people want a modded car as they do a stock car, especially from a dealer.

Re: Keep my car from getting traded in

go look up invoice on the GTO or better yet, GMS pricing .. tell the dealer you'll give them $200-400 over that .. and then see how much you get offered in trade value ..... that's what I'll pay for just about ANY car ..trade in value .... since you said you were going to trade it in I figured I'd offer it ...

Re: Keep my car from getting traded in

the dealer will definitely screw you, my bro only got $5000 in trade for his 96 modded Z28 and they car was in great condition, i told him he should have sold it to a person, but he didn't wanna wait to find someone, his impatience cost him at least 2-3 grand.

I know. That's why if I do sell it, it's going to be private party. At least that way, I can find someone who would appreciate the difference it makes to have all these mods done to the car. I can imagine though if someone bought it unknowing from a dealer after I traded it in. They might go out and race their friends, and have a few jaws drop.

Get a cheap South West ticket and fly down there...unless you really don't have $6500.
