FS: T56 Conversion Kit
FS: T56 Conversion Kit
I'm going to be converting my '96 Z28 from a M6 to A4. Why? Well, I'm an automatic guy but I fell in love with the car when I saw it. Thought I could live with keeping a manual car for a while but after 13K miles....I'm really sick of shifting.
I've tried to sell the car numerous times. Considering its in almost mint condition and has been pampered....I figured it might be worth at least something. Needless to say I dropped the price in the local Area Shopper from $7,500 to $6,000 obo in hopes to find it a good home and fine me a nice A4 car......didn't work.
So, I'm left with my only option....convert it.
I'll be selling everything one should need to do the swap. Parts have 93K actual miles and the transmission shifts very well.
Transmission
Clutch Pedal
Crossmember
Flywheel
Console Insert with boot
Shifter with ****
Master Cyl
Clutch Lines
Engine Harness/Trans Harness
96 T56 ECM
I may be leaving something out but everything needed will be included. Clutch is likely the original (like I said the car was pampered)...so it should be replaced when doing the conversion to your car.
Price: Make offers to metro@surferie.net
Location: Erie, PA
Shipping: Up to buyer. I can put the stuff on a Pallet but I've never shipped anything large or heavy.
I will be tackling this within the next 2 weeks. First step is disassembly.

Re: FS: T56 Conversion Kit
Wanna do a complete swap with my A4? I want a manual, you want an automatic. Swap them out and call it even? If this tickles your fancy even a tiny bit, here's my email scwizzo@yahoo.com
EDIT: should probably mention it's a brand new transmission from GM with maybe 1500 miles. Has 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty. Installed about 2 months ago.

Re: FS: T56 Conversion Kit
I would be willing to make the same deal. I live in corning n.y. So I am within driving distance. I have a 94 z with a B&m shift improver and a B&M 2400 holeshot stall converter. The Car has 72,000 miles and everyting works very well.
Re: FS: T56 Conversion Kit
Guys. I appreciate the offers. Especially Heatz, as my aunt lives outside of Canandaigua, NY in Honeoye, and I visit there frequently.
Although, I'm not equipped here or there to do this transplant to 2 vehicles. I've changed transmissions on my back in my garage but this time I plan to have a shop do that part of the swap for me.
Not only that but the only way that I might go for someone like that is if someone with a 96 and mechanically inclined came along. Reason being as far as I'm seeing the only engine harness from a 4l60e car that will work for me is from the same year.
I can rather easily pick everything up from a local salvage yard. Its just hard finding a 96 and convincing the place to let me strip the harness off their motor.

Hi dyenny
I would not worry about changeing out the harness. You can actually just splice the wires that you need into the harness that is already in the car. That is what I plane on doing with my car. I plan to do all the work myself with the help of my friend. Lucky for me my friend has a lift in his garage and has done the swap before. If you were still looking to trade we may be able to work something out. The only thing is that I do not have a stock computer for the automatic. Mine has a custom tune in it and it is obd1

Re: FS: T56 Conversion Kit
would u part the Crossmember and the Console Pc. With Boot out? will pay a large sum for these pieces... let me know, i am located in South Central PA, and i would also consider doing a complete swap seeing as i have removed everything needed for an A4 swap..car has 119,567 miles
Re: FS: T56 Conversion Kit
Did this ever get done? I am serious about swapping and I'm in the relative area. I could get everything out of my car, drive it up to yours, switch parts and bring back the T56 stuff. 85k on a stock and perfect working 4L60E. Mines a 94 though so you'd need some extra wiring, but I'm willing to pay extra cash for the inconvience. It just going to be easier to do a swap with someone rather than trying to buy all the small individual parts myself. Also includes 24,000 GWVR B&M Super Cooler. Thanks.
