I'll have pictures up tomorrow.
Here's the spec's on the heads.

Combustion Chamber: Just got back from the machinists shop. They are 62cc
Springs: CC Big Block Beehives installed at the correct height
Rocker studs: ARP 7/16"
Guideplates: Yes
Not ported.

Intake is stock, unported LT1 intake. It is my original '96 intake. I've cleaned the outside of it well but I need to have the interior steam cleaned.

Thanks for the kind words Jon
How are things coming with your car?

I'm dropping off these Canfields at my machinist to have him strip them, steam them, valve job and CC the chambers.

Things are great Dave! Busy!

Between a 4 month old girl, a new house, still in the condo until the new house is ready, and still renting the shop... alot going on.

Once we move into the house 2-3 weeks from now, I will move out of the shop and work out of my home garage again. Its just easier being home in case the wife/baby need me.

I totally agree. Family first! I'm glad to hear you're so devoted to your family

I went to the track last weekend but to no good. I had a LOT of wheel hop off the line so still a 2.xx sixty foot. Spun a lot in second. Third felt like heaven though... till I shifted to 4th and one of my beaded coupler/pipes popped off. I just let off the throttle and left her in 4th as the motor droned down. I was just letting the engine 'apply the brakes' so to speak. Still, it was a 12.3 run at 100mph with no 4th gear usage.

Curious about the wheel hop, I got under the car an hour ago and found I have a negative pinion angle. No wonder traction is crap. Instead of a desirable +2 degrees of pinion angle, I have more like -2 or more degrees when the car is sitting still. I'm looking for an adjustable torque arm or will weld a plate to my stocker that relocates the bolt holes.

All the best to you Jon!

Thanks Dave. What was the 1/8th mph?

Buy a chassis mounted tq arm if you can!

Re: FS: LT1 Canfield Heads and stock LT1 intake.

Just what the seller said they flow when I bought them.
  • CC = 58cc
  • Intake Valve size = 2.05
  • Exhaust Valve size = 1.60
  • Intake flow @ .600 = 270cfm
  • Exhaust flow @.600 = 200cfm
  • Intake port runner size = 200cc
I just dropped off the heads and intake to the machinist. He's going to accurately CC the heads. He will also disassemble and hot tank them, then do a lap job. The heads don't even have 5K miles on them since I put them on. (no winter driving and only driving on sunny days). I will have to add the cost of cc'ing, cleaning and lap job to the $800. If I don't sell them soon, I'll just ship them to Lloyd for porting and that will add another $600+shipping to the cost.

Jon, I do have a chassis mounted torque arm What I don't have is the room in the front to drop the nose of the TA down so I can get the better pinion angle.

Re: FS: LT1 Canfield Heads and stock LT1 intake.

Just got back from the Machinists shop. I watched him measure the Combustion chambers. 62cc.
The pictures will have to wait. I'm having the machinist fully clean the heads and lap the valves. Once I get them back from him, I'll take pictures.

Jon, I'm looking for the timeslip. If I find it, I'll let you know.

Are these cnc'd or are they as cast? I'm wondering how they would compare to my Ai heads. I'm looking to drop some compression so I can run some boost.

Re: FS: LT1 Canfield Heads and stock LT1 intake.

Hi,
Here's the story. When I first saw these for sale (you can use the advanced search for 'dirtydavew' and 'Canfield') and find the original posts), the seller advertised them as 'ported by Nutek'. However, since I've had ported heads before, when I got these the ports looked like they had a superficial porting only. The valve guides weren't elipsed or anything.

I currently have the heads at my machinists getting them cleaned up and the valves lapped(don't think they needed this but just so I can be sure) so they'll have more eye appeal. If they don't sell fairly quickly, I'm going to send the heads to Lloyd Elliot.

What kind of numbers are your current AI's flowing? My 23 degree TFS heads, after porting by Lloyd, are flowing 299cfm at .600 on Intake and 212 at .600 on exhaust. I hear the AI's flow very well when ported. I haven't asked Lloyd what he thinks the Canfields will flow after he gets finished. I'll fire off an email to him and see what he thinks.
