a aluminum short block is 200 lbs lighter than a cast one, thats a fact. that is also why they have a diferent set for the lt1 and ls1. what you will ultimately find is your lt1 will set lower in the front than with the lt1 springs thus you will have less travel.

The numbers I can find for the weight of an LT1 bare block are between 170 and 190 pounds, with the most reliable-seeming sources (shipping weights of GMPP blocks from Summit) saying 181 or 185 depending on whether it has 2-bolt or 4-bolt mains.
An LS1 bare block weighs 107 pounds.
That's a difference of 63-83 pounds. Unless I'm forgetting something, the rest of the parts in the engine weigh roughly the same. I guess the LT1's intake manifold would be several pounds heavier than the LS1's composite piece, but certainly not enough to get the total difference over 200 lbs.
The comparison figures you've seen stating the LT1's engine weight at ~700 pounds are with transmission.

I wish someone would chim in that put the ls1 in a lt1 or vice versa. why would eibach go thru the trouble to make a diferent spring if it didn't make a diference? and if its the same they wouldn't spend the money to have a diferent part number would they? you have alot of valid points and I would like to drop my z so some data from someone who did this I would also appreciate
