COLA 3.8 crank
This crankshaft can be used on an LT1 if you have it balanced internally. If you're putting together a bottom end you would have the reciprocating assembly balanced anyways but since this crankshaft is internally balanced on the back and designed for an external balance (counterweighted balancer) on the front you'll pay a little more for the balancing. This cost would be offset by the price I'm offering on the crank. It's a very nice 4340 forged piece and will take anything you can dish out.
I hear you on the tight budget.... I've never seen COLA advertise a HP rating, maybe you could contact them and ask. COLA has always had a reputation as one of the best cranks you could buy. Big Rick ran a Cola crank in the fastest LT1 ever built. I'd be willing to bet that crankshaft durability is more in the setup of the bottom end than brand name to a certain point. Any of the major name crank grinders 4340 cranks are capable of handling more HP than you or I are ever going to throw at them, if the rest of the bottom end is machined and assembled correctly. http://www.fastpts.com/hazel-doc/colahome.html
