94 Z28 part out or whole car
Well, my daughter's car overheated and either blew a head gasket or cracked a head. It's a teal '94 Z28 with 201,000 miles and T-tops. I just replaced the radiator, water pump (GM AC-Delco), coil, ignition module - all are new parts put on the car before I diagnosed that the engine is shot. I also replaced the optispark with a used unit. I also just replaced the exhaust system with a cat-back stainless steel system about a month ago. The salad shooter wheels are in good condition and the tires have 80-90% tread left. The transmission (4L60E) was rebuilt two months ago ($1300). The T-tops are in great shape. There is a dent in the driver's side quarter panel and some of the clear coat is coming off the black portion on the driver's side behind the T-tops.
So, I am taking offers on either the whole car as is, or individual parts. I will try to send another post with pics of the car and parts when I get the car back from the shop.
I already have an offer from the shop owner of $800 for the car. I am located in southcentral Pennsylvania. My daughter is crushed that she needs to give it up but she needs something that's a tad better on gas and a little more reliable than what we've had the pleasure of dealing with.
Thanks for looking!

Yeah, it's been a combination of things. We've had 3 transmissions in the car and I have no time anymore to work on it. Fortunately I have AAA Plus because we're on a first-name basis with the towing company now. My daughter needs something easier on gas too. It was a good first car for her and she hates to see it go but she's becoming practical. And my wife doesn't want another project car sitting around taking up driveway space. Typical stuff.
I was actually looking forward to rebuilding the engine. I already have a project car in the garage and I'm "allowed" only one at a time. The car just flat out screamed when it ran though. I wanted to take it to the track this Spring and see what it would do............sort of a teaching moment for the kids, you know.
Well, we'll see. If I don't get any interest in the parts or the whole car I'll try to convince my wife that there is no other choice than to fix 'er up to sell because I'm not selling it for $800 to the shop guy. That would just be a shame.
Sorry to ramble. I'll get pics up soon.

OK, OK, before this gets out of hand here I wanted to let everyone know that I have made some headway on the homefront and it looks like I am going to keep it for now, and remove and replace the head gaskets (or head(s) if that becomes necessary). I actually may have negotiated a neighbor's empty garage for the repair and justified keeping it by how much we would lose out if we handed it over for $800.
Sorry for the confusion and thanks for understanding. If things change you will see it here first.
