1979 Trans Am , rust free GA , MAKE OFFER !!!

Just got this 1979 TA in trade for my Buick Turbo and thought I'd pass it along to some real car guys

feel free to make an offer ... it's on ebay ...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...gory=6427&rd=1

Things I KNOW about the car , the good , bad and obvious !!

Red exterior and Tan interior .

No rips to tears in interior , as pictured .

No rust, other than the exhaust manifolds I can't find a speck of rust, NICE SOLID GA car !!

T-Tops with storage bags , they don't leak, looks like newer seals all the way around the doors and tops too !!!

Edelbrock Aluminum intake manifold , Q-Jet carb . It looks like a Performer Series with dual plane plenum

Dual exhaust, flowmaster mufflers, looks VERY recent and sounds VERY TOUGH !!!

AC car ...AC looks complete, but no belt . There is SOME FREON in the system, it "sniffs" positive ..

WS6 wheels ...might be a WS6 car ???

Runs and Drives pretty good .. little cold natured , like ANY carb'ed car of this age .. no smoke AT ALL !!! Seems to track straight and no wobble down the road .. but... I've only driven it about 10 miles !!! It PASSED EMISSIONS in October 03 ....

power steering pump is a little weak , it requires a little more RPM to turn wheels from an idle, sitting still ....but runs down the road fine ...

heater water lines disconnected ....I assume core is bad ...

Options
Power Steering
Power Brakes
Power windows
Power Door Locks
power truck release
rear defrost in window
T-tops
Tilt wheel
cruise ???
RTS ???

Things I was TOLD about the car, last 2 owners are brothers , one is a mechanic at Carmax ...

Rebuilt engine, Pontiac 400 .. not 301 or olds 403 ... not sure when, where or what was done .. oil pressure guage reads between 60 and 80 psi , blue paint looks fairly recent .

Rebuilt Transmission, BOP case 350 Turbohydromatic, 2500 stall, seems to stall 2200 on factory tach ... not sure when, where or what was done .. outside of case looks nice and clean ...

NEW Exhaust with 2.5" pipes , flowmasters with NEW cat converters ...looks like it !!

it WAS a 4 speed, 301 car ..one of 1534 cars... still has clutch pedals but it's now Automatic and Poncho 400...

WS6 car ..has the wheels but I haven't found a build or RPO sheet ....

Positraction Rear end with 3.08 gear ratio

NEW or RECENT : Brakes , water pump , alt , battery , radiator , AC work , belts and hoses, etc etc ...

Georgia doesn't require titles for vechicles from 1985 and older .. BUT .. I HAVE THE TITLE FOR THIS Trans Am !!!! NO BS here .. Car and Title in my possesion !!!

VIN decoding .....

2W87W9L191843
Decodes as a 1979 Firebird Trans Am
Style=2-door Coupe Hardtop
Built at the Van Nuys, Ca. plant
Engine=V8/301ci. 4bb.
Serial # 191843

also this comes up on some pages .....

Assembly Plant L = Van Nuys
Model Year 9 = 1979
Engine Code Pontiac: W/Y = 4.9L or X/Y/W = 455 ci
Body Type 87 = 2 door coupe
Carline Series Pontiac:W = Trans Am (1977-1979)
Make 2 = Pontiac

Why would I sell it ??? I took it in trade for my Turbo Buick . Only, now I've got a built SBC 350 and want a CHEVY HOTROD ... looking for either a 1st (67 ,68, 69, or as we say "6789" or 4th generation (93up) F-body , Camaro Firebird Z28 Trans Am GTA IROC ..... let me know .... might consider 60-70's GM muscle cars , RV's and Buses too !!!

thanx

Damn! Too bad I already have one as a project, because that is a good deal! BTW, the only cars that received the 4 speed were the Trans Ams. Those came with a 400 and 4 speed, and there are very few out there. It is a rare car, and they are getting high priced

hey ...

I'm still trying to figure that all out .. the guy told me it's a
1979 Trans Am SE .. 301 w/4 speed

according to

http://www.iwaynet.net/~gl&lisk/transam.html

Model Engine RPO VIN Code Manual Automatic Total
Trans Am w/T-Top 301 L37 W 1,530 3,301 4,831
Trans Am SE 301 L37 W 213 360 573

so it's either one of 213 or one of 1530 !!! factor in rear defrost and red exterior tan interior ... it's getting rarer and rarer !!!!

That's sweet, I was unaware that the 301 could be had with the 4 speed! Too bad that the 301 is a turd and no matter what is done to it stays a turd, because that could be a very rare car indeed!
