WTB: Rear swaybar for 82+ camaro. Bigger=better
WTB: Rear swaybar for 82+ camaro. Bigger=better
Hey guys,
Found out a 82+ camaro rear swaybar will work on my daily driver (70 C10) with minor mods. Anyone have one sitting around? Id like the biggest bar around but if there is a smaller one for cheaper I will buy it. I need the brackets on the axle, and the chassis brackets would be nice, but not required. I think the chassis brackets are rivetted on so its too much work unless you got a torch/air hammer. Got an OEM 1 1/4" front bar for the truck so once I get that in I will be wanting a rear bar to keep the inside rear tire on the ground
.
Cheers.

Well found out today its time to rebuild the engine in the truck
So I wont be spending any other $$$ on it until thats dealt with.
Krazzy so long as its a coil sprung rear end, yes. The camaro bar is too wide so you either have to space the stock camaro brakets out about an inch, or build new ones (camaro ones are pretty flimsy anyway). The camaro has smaller axle tubes (2.75" I think) so you have to either grind them out or build new ones. I think the 4th gen ones are just clamped on so I was going to use them rather than weld the brackets on. Welding axle tubes is always risky. May have to move your brake lines around a bit as well, not sure. There are aftermarket ones but they bolt to the bottom of the trailing arms and do not have enough leverage.

Thanks Krazzy, Seeing as my engine is at the machine shop I dont think I will be spending any more money on the truck for a while
. After the engine is back in I will slap the front bar on and thats enough time/cash spent on a daily driver. Until the tranny lets go that is
BTW I was working on a 99 F350 4x4 and its front bar looks like it would work well for a rear bar. MUCH larger than a camaro bar and is narrower. Axle brackets look like you would just need to re-drill them and add a clamp too. It mounts on top of the axle as well. Just in case you wanted to try corners with your swb
