FRACK!!!!! That sucks!!! Well, I would for sure make an ICBC apointment. Someone might claim a hit and run and if the damage matches what they did to your car then they get caught in their lie. Also, depending on how bad the damage is, the deductible is worth it. If you can get a good deal on everything on your own I would tell ICBC that you want cash instead. If they ask why, let them know that you are parking the car in the fall coming up and you need the cash to get your other car going. Honestly they don't even need to know. This way, you have the cash to buy the hood, get the damge fixed and maybe some leftover mod money.
I know a few good body shops, and there is also Tw!tch's body shop as well. It could also be time for an 98+ upgrade!!!!

Ah Jeezus! That's brutal! Sorry to hear it Craig.

I think on any hit and run there are special rules that apply at ICBC. I'm not 100% positive, but you may pay a reduced deductible for it, rather than full.

Bah !! ****ty luck !! I hate *******s like that

Im mad at by boss so dont bring it by where I work .. Im on my way outta there asap !! I dont even think they bothered to get ahold of Pj for his claim on the door . Organizational skills of liquered medicated gophers !! I can direct you to a VERY good shop if your looking to get a claim done though . I agree with mr bains on the icbc deal , make a hit and run claim and pay the deductable . If you try to pay out they only give you 70 % of the claim , so wait and try to use the claim as leverage in a shop againsed getting the whole car painted . Pick your shop carefully !!

The amount they pay out depends on the wear and tear. I could be wrong though, they may have changed their policies.
IE. I had just lowered my car and I was driving home when a truck swerved on to a gravel shoulder and kicked out a huge rock. I had 3 choices, run over it and hope for the best or swerve and hit the oncoming traffic or swerve the other way and end up in the ditch.
I chose to run over it. ooooooohhhhhhhh!!! man that rock sound like it ripped apart my car underneath. The damage consisted of a dented brake line (still need to fix that ) , a couple of nice dents in the floor panel,( hammered out most of it), a dented k-member (still dented), and a crushed y-pipe. ICBC offered to fix it all, but since the y-pipe comes with a cat, and I didn't want a new cat, I asked for the money. They offered me 60% because they said the cat was only worth 60% of it's original value ($700) since it was old. When I told them I had just replaced the cat 2 months ago they said oh, well in that case it would be worth 95% of the value. They deducted I believe 20% on the labour and the rest of the stuff and sent me a cheque. And that was how I got my new headers with a new y-pipe.

all the reason to go to ICBC. Trust me man , go now, otherwise they'll know it's old damage and tell u to screw off!! A claim is good for two years so u have time to act on it!!!

That's why you make sure to envolve the police, they shoulden't give you to much gruff that way.

Maybe take one your parents with you?

Dude!!! don't worry. ICBC has to PROVE you are lying. And they will be able to tell how the damage was done. So they will know that you are not lying.
Worst case scenario, you'll have to fight with them. They always try to bluff at first but u shouldn't give in. If you need legal advice I have a guy u can talk to.

Tell them the truth. Remember they "work" for you. You have every right to dispute what they say.

I agree with Sandeep 100%. I've dealt with ICBC several times, and once you call their bluff and fight their assumptions with cold facts and evidence, they WILL reason with you. It's the proving yourself part that is annoying...you'll have to sign papers under a police presence and may have to write a statement. These are scare tactics...after this part everything goes smoothly...that is of course if you ARE telling the truth .

Is the insurance under your name? Can you get one of your parents to take the car in? Unfortunately, they will not take you as seriously as an "adult".

IMO with body damage, I'd get ICBC to cover the full claim...forget this getting money back garbage in this case...take it to the best body shop in town since you don't have to pay. Get a courtesy car. Leverage the claim to the max!

Good luck.
