Wheels WTD

I am looking for a set of four wheels,.... 10 inches wide, 16 inches tall, with a 5 on 4.75 chevy bolt pattern with two different off sets, front and rear.

Re: Wheels WTD

Hehehe, hey Chris. I am installing four 255/50/16 E.T. Street Radials and the wheels need to be 10 inches wide. I didn't know that when I ordered the tires. My current wheels are only 8 inches wide and these new tires seem to have a huge radius across the contact patch, which leads me to believe that if I installed them on my current rims, I might only get an eight inch contact patch, when they advertise 9.7 inches.

I thought that maybe late model F bodies had different off-sets front to rear and that maybe someone had a used set of 10 inch wide rims laying around.......

I'd talk to Dave about wheels. He seems to be the wheels **** around here.

Re: Wheels WTD

Ok, I just measured the beads from outside to outside, and they measure 8 inches across. My guess is that Mickey Thompson made a misprint on their site. I have e-mailed them and asked for clarification.

Re: Wheels WTD

Re: Wheels WTD

you can fit 255s on a stock 16 inch f body rim.

Re: Wheels WTD

Good question bunker, I asked the very same thing and have in fact e-mailed Mickey to verify wheel size requirement.

I have included the link on their site and if you look at part #3793R, you will see that they clearly state that 10 inch rims are required. Often tire manufactures will give you a little lateral movement by saying that 8-10 inch rims are required, but not in this case.

http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...et_radial.html

93, I am convinced of what you state, I just want Mickey to confirm this. As the tires sit on the floor, I measure 8 iches from the outside of the bead to outside of the bead. I also am of the belief that a 10 inch wide rim would be too wide and might even be a safety issue.

Re: Wheels WTD

I just received this message from tech at Mickey Thompson.
"You have to take that up with the dealer. That tire is recommended for a 10.
Not our fault!"

Re: Wheels WTD

You can run a 255 on 10" rims. Some older tires designs like to have a rim wider then the tread for corners. But that's before they came out with stiff walled radials.

I ran 255 for about a year and a bit with my ponies(7" rim) it diddn't seem to have any odd whare patterns on them.

Weird... I am running 255/50/16 BFG DR's on my stock 16x8 rims.
That reply from M/T makes me not want to buy their tires.

I think this guy seriously needs an attitude adjustment. What kind of a BS response is that?
